Photosynthesis

This is a better way to teach Science topic which is related to photosynthesis. I found this when I was still in my undergraduate study, and it brings a big impact no matter towards a 10 years old kid, or a 50 years old lecturer. Well, since all of the people in this world learn by using different domain, visual and audio domain will be the first choice to be selected. To improve the impact of it, I have make a worksheet for my students to fill in the blanks according to the lyrics heard. Enjoy the song while revising about the topic.

Photosynthesis Song

If you want to know, how a plant grows,

It takes water, air and sunlight and makes cellulose.

Every plant can do this, fundamental process,

And we can call this, photosynthesis.

Unlike me and you, plants need CO2,

And they make oxygen that stops us turning blue.

Every plant can do this, fundamental process,

And we can call this, photosynthesis.

It’s a miracle,

How will the chlorophyll,

Capture sunlight in the leaves of the plants and the trees.

A plant of any size can do it if it tries,

But we are not green,

So we can’t, photosynthesize.

Every plant can do this, fundamental process,

And we can call this, photosynthesis.

The Day I Mess with Science

       I am still in pain!!!! What has happened just now was unexpected. The rusted nail just poked my feet. Finally I realized that redox reaction do occurs in our daily life. Corrosion of nail and dental amalgam are some of the examples. As for the food chain exists in our life, it is the example of 1st and 2nd Law of Thermodynamic. When I was cycling, I realized that the energy changes from kinetic to  chemical. It obeys both laws too. Dissolving of sugar  in coffee shows that entropy increases.

Mother to Son

Mother to Son
by Langston Hughes'
Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor --
Bare.
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps
'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now --
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

The Demon Lover

THE DEMON LOVER
by Author Unknown 17th century
"Oh, where have you been, my long, long love,
this seven years and more?"
"Oh, I've come to seek my former vows
Ye granted me before."
"Oh, do not speak of your former vows,
For they will breed sad strife;
Oh, do not speak of your former vows,
For I have become a wife."
He turned him right and round about,,
And the tear blinded his ee:
"I would never have trodden on this ground
If it had not been for thee."
"If I was to leave my husband dear,
And my two babes also,
Oh, what have you to take me to,
If with you I should go?"
"I have seven ships upon the sea---
The eighth brought me to land---
With four-and-twenty bold mariners,
And music on every hand."
She has taken up her two little babes,
Kissed them on cheek and chin:
"Oh, fare ye well, my own two babes,
For I'll never see you again."
She set her foot upon the ship---
No mariners could she behold;
But the sails were of the teffeta,
And the masts of the beaten gold.
She had not sailed a league, a league,
A league but barely three,
When dismal grew his countenance,
And drumlie grew his ee.
They had not sailed a league, a league,
A league but barely three,
Until she espied his cloven foot,
And she wept right bitterly.
"Oh, hold your tongue of your weeping," said he,
"Of your weeping now let me be;
I will show you how the lilies grow
On the banks of Italy."
"Oh, what hills are yon, yon pleasant hills,
That the sun shines sweetly on?"
"Oh, yon are the hills of heaven," he said,,
"Where you will never win."
"Oh, whaten a mountain is yon," she said,
"So dreary with frost and snow?"
"Oh, yon is the mountain of hell," he cried,
"Where you and I will go."
He struck the top-mast with his hand,
The fore-mast with his knee;
And he broke that gallant ship in twain,
And sank her in the sea.

My Papa's Waltz

My Papa's Waltz
by Theodore Roethke

The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy;
But I hung on likr death;
such waltzing was not easy.

we romped until the pans
slid from the kitchen shelf;
My mother's coutenance
Could not unfrown itself.

The hand that held my wrist
Was battered on one knuckle;
At every step you missed
My right ear scraped a buckle.

You beat time on my head
With a palm caked hard by dirt,
Then waltzed me off to bed
Still cliging to your shirt.
